12 Tips for Being a Beautiful Bride

There are a number of things you can do to help yourself look your best on your wedding day. After all this is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, and no one, including you wants to attend it looking like bridezilla.

Here are some tips to help you look your best on your wedding day.

  1. Do you suffer from dark circles under your eyes? If you're like me you probably wish there was some way to get rid of them besides covering them with make-up. Well, guess what? There is! Put two teaspoons in the refrigerator and let them get good and cold. Once they are very cold take them out and then lay down and put them on your under eye circles. Keep them there until they are no longer cold. You should see a noticeable reduction in the dark circles under your eyes and if there is still a bit there you can cover it up with make-up. This is a fast and quick repair, and you don't have to take the time to cut up cucumbers, nor brew any tea to get the best result! Oh, and this also works wonders on puffy eyes.
  2. If your budget can afford it have a professional make-up artist do your make-up. The beauty of this is that the make-up artist will know which colors will look best with your skin complexion, hair color and the color of your dress. Also, they will know what the best types of make-up are for your skin type and hence help to avoid any break-outs or allergic reactions.
  3. If you cannot afford to have your make-up professionally done but instead plan to do your own make-up then begin planning at least a month in advance. Begin figuring out what colors will look best on your and will match your gown well. Also, choose good quality products so that you can avoid breakouts as much as possible.
  4. Contact lenses can make putting on eye make-up tricky at best, though you wouldn't think so. If you are going to wear eye make-up it might be best to check with your Opthalmologist just in case there is anything crucial you need to know before donning eye make-up, if you haven't already. Wear cream eye shadow rather than a powder one because the powder ones have a tendency to flake off. Also, if you are going to wear mascara, wear a waterproof one since chances are there will be some happy tears.
  5. Do your best to choose a foundation that blends in as perfectly as possible with your skin tone. Testing it at the jawline is a good way to figure out if the tone is correct. If your jawline looks a tad darker or lighter than the skin on your neck then you need to try another tone. Also be sure that your foundation has an SPF 30 sunscreen in it if your wedding is in the daytime.
  6. If you are not someone who has been doing facials regularly then start doing them at least a month in advance of your wedding. This will give your skin time to heal in the event of a break-out due to an allergic reaction. This is also another good reason to begin trying out make-up a month in advance. Allergic reactions can make your skin red, swollen, bumpy and even excessively dry with peeling skin. Since you don't want to look bad on your wedding day, giving yourself a month to try new products will give your skin time to heal if it needs it.
  7. In order to keep the color of your lipstick staying true longer, fill in your lips with a lip liner or pencil. Make sure you purchase a liner or pencil that matches your lipstick color otherwise this won't be as effective.
  8. Want to make your lips appear more plump without collagen injections? Take a dry toothbrush and use it to rub all the dead skin cells off of your lips.
  9. Instead of giving in to the temptation to touch or pick at zits or stress acne, zap your breakouts with an OTC gel to get rid of them fast. If you avoid touching or picking they will heal much faster!
  10. If you are already aware that your skin is very sensitive choose only natural and or hypoallergenic products to put on it. Keep in mind that presently the FDA does not require companies to prove their products are hypoallergenic. Some skin care companies use this term as a gimmick to sell more of their product, so be discriminating about which hypoallergenic products you choose. Check out the companies of the products you are interested in and see if they put their money where their mouth is so to speak. Otherwise you could have a break-out or worse. Also, keep in mind that you can still have a reaction to plant based products. Just because they are natural does not guarantee they are hypoallergenic.
  11. Begin taking extra special care of your feet and hands at least three weeks in advance of your wedding. Get a manicure and pedicure and keep these up for the three weeks prior to your wedding so you can look your best on your special day. Also, avoid wearing heels in the weeks prior to your wedding day because they can cause your veins to unattractively bulge and stress your feet.
  12. Take care of your hair! Get a trim if your hair needs it prior to your wedding day. To avoid damaging your hair, or to repair any damage it already has, deep condition it a few times, and avoid blow dryers and brushing your hair when wet. These are all common sense, but if you keep them in mind your hair will look fabulous on your special day.

These are only a few of the things you can do to look your best on your wedding day. You should also excercise, drink lots of water, eat a healthy diet, and stay active prior to your big occasion. If you follow these tips you will not only look beautiful, you will feel beautiful when it comes your turn to walk down the aisle!
